課程概述 |
The following content of ceramic science will be presented in the class.
1. Introduction of Modern Ceramics
2. Ceramic Structures
3. Effect of Chemical Forces and Structure on Physical Properties
4. Thermodynamic and Kinetic considerations
5. Defects in Ceramics
6. Diffusion and Electric conductivity
7. Phase diagram
8. Structure, Formation and Properties of Glasses
9. Sintering and Grain Growth
10. Mechanical Properties: Fast fracture
11. Creep, slow crack growth and fatigue
12. Dielectric properties
13. Optical Properties |
課程目標 |
1. Familiar with the basic science of ceramics;
2. Have the knowledge on the applications of ceramic materials;
3. Practice group discussion, literature search ing technical writing in English.

2. 30-40 pages reading each week;
3. Group discussion with prepared subjects (14%)
Based on “Ceramic Innovations in the 20th century”
Each group member shall prepare one report (by e-mailing to
Professor Wei, before the next class,
If delay (-2%/each week), interesting (+1%), or
best among the reports (+3%)
4. Questionnaires (16%) needed for only 8 times

5. Taking mid-term exam and final exam. (30% and 40%, respectively)
